RI HUNGER PROJECT
SINGING FOR YOUR SUPPER
on World Food Day -- October 16

benefiting the Pawtucket Soup Kitchen
On October 16, 2010 Stone Soup Coffeehouse, Motif, and Rhode Island Songwriters Association (RISA) hosted the following RISA singer-songwriters who performed in concert to benefit the Pawtucket Soup Kitchen: Garry Foisy, John Fuzek, Terry Kitchen, Jan Luby, Ed McGuirl, GW Mercure, Marjorie Thompson.

This was the kickoff event for a community effort to help the hungry in Rhode Island.

Approximately $440 was raised in addition to the
non-perishable food donated for the Pawtucket Soup Kitchen. Thanks to all!
The vision of “Singing for Your Supper” –The Rhode Island Hunger Project is to build community and awareness to relieve the problems with hunger in Rhode Island. The primary goal is to kick off a year-long series of weekly events to support local relief agencies. We hope to accomplish this by enabling collaboration between songwriters, venues and relief organizations to raise funds and awareness through a series of 52 weekly events.

We are asking local venues for music and community to participate by picking an existing show from their lineup and dedicating it to the cause of hunger.  We are also looking to create specific events at venues around the state utilizing our great local talent.   Each event will be teamed up with a local soup kitchen or food bank.
